Jasprit Bumrah: The Unmatched Pace Sensation Ahead of T20 World Cup Final
T20 World Cup Final: India vs New Zealand
The excitement is palpable as India prepares to face New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad on March 8 (Sunday). Renowned England fast bowler James Anderson has praised India's bowling star Jasprit Bumrah, labeling him the finest pacer currently in the game. Anderson, who made history as the first seam bowler to achieve 600 Test wickets, commended Bumrah's exceptional talent, describing his bowling style as truly one-of-a-kind.
Bumrah has played a pivotal role in India's journey to the final, showcasing his skills during a crucial 18th over against England in the semifinal, where he allowed just six runs under significant pressure. In total, he conceded only 14 runs in his last two overs, helping India secure a narrow seven-run victory over England to advance to the final.
Anderson shared his thoughts on Bumrah's unique abilities during a BBC podcast, stating, "When I watch Bumrah, I think there's nothing to learn from him; he's simply extraordinary. No bowler, regardless of gender or format, can consistently deliver six yorkers perfectly. One of the yorkers he bowled against England was a slower ball, demonstrating his versatility. He nailed five fast yorkers and one slow ball, making it nearly impossible to score off him."
He also discussed how England approached Bumrah, who has taken 10 wickets in seven matches throughout the T20 World Cup. Anderson noted that players like Jacob Bethell and Sam Curran wisely chose to focus on surviving Bumrah's overs rather than attempting to attack him. "England managed to handle him well, realizing that scoring boundaries off him would be extremely challenging. They opted to take their chances against the other bowlers," he explained.
As the final approaches, Bumrah will face new challenges as New Zealand's batters devise strategies to counter his exceptional skills.
