Sinner Defends Wimbledon Title
Jannik Sinner, currently ranked as the world's top player, expressed heartfelt thanks to his fans after successfully defending his title at Wimbledon. Following his victory, he took to X to share his appreciation for the unwavering support he received throughout the tournament, stating, "We did it again. Thank you all for the love and support."
A Significant Career Achievement: 100 Grand Slam Victories
In addition to his title defense, Sinner celebrated a significant career milestone by achieving his 100th Grand Slam match victory against Alexander Zverev. This accomplishment places him among an elite group of only eight active male players who have reached this milestone, joining the ranks of notable players like Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka.
At just 24 years old, Sinner holds an impressive 100-22 win-loss record in Grand Slam tournaments, translating to a remarkable win percentage exceeding 82%.
Remarkable Recent Performance
Sinner's recent performances in major tournaments have been outstanding. Since his 39th Grand Slam win in the first round of the 2024 Australian Open, he has achieved an impressive 62-6 record in Grand Slam events. His only losses during this period have been against top competitors such as Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.
Among active players with at least 100 Grand Slam victories, only Djokovic has a better winning percentage than Sinner.
Record-Breaking Achievements for the Italian Star
Sinner's journey in Grand Slam tournaments began with his first victory at the 2020 Australian Open against Max Purcell. Earlier this year at Wimbledon, he made history by becoming the Italian player with the most Grand Slam singles match wins, surpassing the previous record of 95 victories after defeating Nuno Borges in the second round.
He has also shown remarkable success against American player Ben Shelton, achieving four wins over him in Grand Slam matches at both Wimbledon and the Australian Open in recent years.
