Sinner's Impressive Performance at Wimbledon

London [UK], July 5: Jannik Sinner, currently ranked as the world's top player, has successfully reached the fourth round of Wimbledon after defeating Pedro Martinez on Saturday.

As reported on the ATP's official platform, Sinner triumphed over Martinez, who was hindered by a shoulder injury, with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-3, 6-1.

Throughout the tournament, Sinner has only conceded 17 games, matching the Open Era record for the fewest games lost before the fourth round at Wimbledon, a record previously set by Jan Kodes. Remarkably, he has not lost a single serve this week, winning all 37 of his service games and successfully defending against all eight break points he encountered.

In the first set, Sinner quickly established a 5-0 lead, prompting Martinez to seek medical assistance for his right shoulder, which ultimately impacted his serving ability. Sinner showcased his dominance on the court.

“I’m thrilled to be in the second week, but it was evident that he was struggling with his shoulder,” Sinner remarked, as noted by the ATP's official site. “His serving was affected, and on this surface, poor serving makes it challenging to compete. However, I commend him for his effort. I focused on maintaining my consistency from the back of the court,” he added.

With this victory, Sinner has reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the 17th time, surpassing Nicola Pietrangeli (16) as the Italian with the most such appearances. This marks his fourth consecutive time reaching the final 16 at Wimbledon.

Following this win, Sinner has improved his ATP Head-to-Head record against Martinez to 2-0 and is set to face Grigor Dimitrov next, who previously defeated him 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(0). The 23-year-old Italian is in pursuit of his fourth Grand Slam title and aims for his first Wimbledon championship, having previously reached the semifinals in 2023, where he lost to Novak Djokovic.
