Jaipur Polo Team Triumphs in SMS Gold Vase
Jaipur, March 9: The Jaipur Polo Team showcased their exceptional skills this season, with Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh steering the team to a thrilling 6–5.5 victory over Krishna Polo in the SMS Gold Vase final, marking their ninth title of the season.
The championship match was fiercely contested, with both teams trading leads throughout the chukkers. Jaipur started strong, establishing a 2–1.5 advantage by the end of the first chukker due to their aggressive play. However, Krishna Polo fought back in the second chukker, led by Kr. Vishal Singh Rathore, to take a slight 3.5–3 lead at halftime.
In the third chukker, Jaipur regained their footing, dominating possession and seizing scoring chances. HH Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh was pivotal in this phase, scoring crucial goals that propelled the team to a 5–3.5 lead.
Despite a spirited effort from Krishna Polo in the final chukker, with goals from Kr. Vishal Singh Rathore and Rk. Sidhant Singh, Jaipur held their ground, maintaining their defensive strategy to clinch the match 6–5.5 and lift the SMS Gold Vase.
Earlier in the semi-final against RPC, Jaipur faced an early setback, trailing 3.5–1 after the first chukker. However, they rallied in the second chukker, with Br. Harshodya Singh and Yogendra Singh scoring to narrow the gap to 4.5–4 by halftime.
The third chukker saw a significant shift as Jaipur tightened their defense and controlled the game. Goals from Kr. Divyamaan Singh Dujod and HH Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh allowed them to take a 5–4.5 lead. They carried this momentum into the final chukker, ultimately winning 8–5.5 to secure their spot in the final.
Br. Harshodya Singh and Yogendra Singh each netted two goals for Jaipur, while Kr. Divyamaan Singh Dujod added one and HH Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh contributed three. RPC's scoring was led by Tarun Bilwal and Allan Shaun Michael, who each scored two goals.
