Jacob Duffy Breaks Bowling Record Against India in T20I
Jacob Duffy Achieves Historic Bowling Milestone
In a remarkable performance, New Zealand's fast bowler Jacob Duffy surpassed the legendary Trent Boult's record by achieving the best bowling figures by a Kiwi against India. This feat occurred during the fourth T20I at Eden Park, where Duffy claimed 4 wickets for just 23 runs in his four-over spell. While defending a target of 260 runs, he struck early by dismissing both Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan in the first over, and later took crucial wickets of Naman Dhir and Arshdeep Singh, effectively stalling India's momentum. Duffy's figures now stand as the best for a New Zealand bowler against India, surpassing Boult's previous record of 4/34 set in Rajkot in 2017.
Duffy's Impressive Career Stats
Throughout his T20I career, Duffy has played 51 matches, taking a total of 67 wickets with an impressive average of 20.35. He has recorded six four-wicket hauls, with his best performance being 4/14. Currently, he shares the sixth position for the most wickets in T20Is for New Zealand alongside Adam Milne. In the current year alone, Duffy has participated in 13 T20Is, securing 14 wickets at an average of 32.85, with his standout figures being 4/23.
New Zealand Clinches Victory in T20I Series
Duffy's four-wicket haul, combined with a century from Glenn Phillips, led New Zealand to a significant victory over India, winning by 87 runs in Auckland. This match marked New Zealand's first win in the five-match T20I series, which now stands at 3-1 in favor of India, with one match remaining. Phillips scored an impressive 107 runs off 49 balls, hitting six fours and ten sixes, while Michael Bracewell contributed 65 runs from 25 balls, helping New Zealand reach a formidable total of 259/7, the highest ever against India. Duffy (4/23), Santner (2/24), and Matthew Fisher (2/40) ensured that India struggled throughout their innings, ultimately bowled out for just 172 runs. Tilak Varma was India's top scorer with 35 runs off 35 balls, including one four and three sixes.
