Jacob Bethell's Impressive Return from IPL

Jacob Bethell, a 21-year-old all-rounder from England, has returned from the IPL 2025 not only with valuable match experience but also with insights from cricket legend Virat Kohli. After a brief period with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Bethell made an immediate impact on the international stage, scoring an impressive 82 runs off 53 balls in the first ODI against the West Indies.

Despite participating in only two matches for RCB this season, where he accumulated 67 runs at a striking rate of 171.79, Bethell expressed that his time in the IPL was incredibly beneficial, largely due to Kohli's mentorship. Following his stellar performance against the West Indies, he shared his thoughts on Kohli's influence.

"I feel like I am a better player now than I was two months ago before the IPL – Virat Kohli was great as he shared his experience, how he goes about batting in different situations – I learned a lot from him about batting."

For a young player still establishing his career, having guidance from one of the game's greats is undoubtedly a significant advantage.

From IPL to International Stardom

Although Bethell had a limited role with RCB, he clearly made the most of his time there. Transitioning from the IPL to England's home series against the West Indies, he stepped onto the field for the first ODI in Birmingham with the confidence of a seasoned player.

Batting at No. 6, Bethell launched a fierce counterattack, hitting 8 fours and 5 sixes to score 82 runs in just 53 deliveries. His explosive performance contributed to England's formidable total of 400/8 in their allotted overs. Additionally, he made a mark with the ball, taking a wicket by dismissing Jewel Andrew during the West Indies' collapse, which saw them bowled out for a mere 162.

England secured a resounding victory by 238 runs, with Bethell's contributions being pivotal to the team's success.

Meanwhile, back in IPL 2025, RCB fans witnessed a glimpse of Bethell's potential. RCB advanced to their fourth IPL final after defeating PBKS by eight wickets and will face the winner of Qualifier Two in the championship match.
