Kishan and Dube's Ranking Surge
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has advanced three positions to secure the fifth spot in the men's batting rankings, while all-rounder Shivam Dube has moved up to seventh among all-rounders, according to the latest ICC Rankings released on Wednesday.
Despite India's setback in the T20 World Cup, suffering a 76-run defeat to South Africa in the Super Eight stage, Kishan and Dube have showcased impressive performances, contributing to their rise in the rankings.
All-Rounders Making Progress
Dube, who climbed two spots to seventh, along with Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi, who rose three places to eighth, have made significant gains in the recent update. Dube has accumulated 158 runs across five innings, averaging 31.60 with a strike rate of 154.90, including a half-century against the Netherlands last week. Additionally, he has taken four wickets at an average of 19.50, with his best bowling figures being 2/35 against the Dutch, earning him the 'Player of the Match' accolade for his all-round performance.
T20I Batting Rankings Movement
Kishan's rise to fifth place is complemented by Dewald Brevis, who jumped ten spots to ninth. Other notable advancements include Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran, who moved up four places to 13th, West Indies captain Shai Hope, who also climbed four slots to 14th, and England's Harry Brook, who surged ten places to 18th, as per the ICC rankings.
Kishan has scored 176 runs in five innings, averaging 35.20 with a striking rate of 193.50, including two fifties, one of which was a score of 77* against Pakistan on February 15.
Brevis has made 131 runs in five matches, averaging 26.20 with a strike rate of 136.45, highlighted by a crucial 45 against India, helping his team recover from a challenging position of 20/3.
Zadran concluded his T20 World Cup campaign with a remarkable unbeaten 95 in a group stage match against Canada, finishing the tournament with 170 runs in four matches, averaging 56.66 and a strike rate of 142.85, including two fifties.
Brook's ranking improvement is attributed to his outstanding century off 51 balls against Pakistan, which was pivotal in England's successful chase of 165 runs, propelling them into the semifinals. He has scored 202 runs in six innings, averaging 33.66 with a strike rate of 172.64, featuring a century and a fifty.
Hope has also played a crucial role in the West Indies' journey to the Super Eights, amassing 169 runs in five innings, averaging 42.25 with a strike rate of 133.07, including two fifties and a top score of 75 against Italy.
