Ireland's T20I Squad Unveiled for Pakistan Series

New Delhi, August 1: Ireland has revealed a 14-member team for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, set to commence on Friday. Gaby Lewis will lead the squad, with Orla Prendergast appointed as her vice-captain, as reported by the ICC.

The team sees the return of off-spinner Freya Sargent, who is back after recovering from an injury. Additionally, Lara McBride retains her position following a strong debut series against Zimbabwe.

This series is crucial for Ireland as they prepare for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, where they aim to secure a place in next year's prestigious tournament.

Historically, the two teams have clashed 19 times in T20Is, with Pakistan winning 15 of those matches. However, Ireland triumphed in their last T20I series in 2022, winning 2-1.

Ciara O’Brien, National Women’s Selector, commented on the challenge ahead, stating, “Following a strong 5-0 series victory against Zimbabwe Women under new Head Coach Lloyd Tennant, we are eager to face Pakistan Women in Clontarf for this T20I series, which will be a tougher challenge.”

O’Brien added, “As we prepare for the ICC Women’s T20I World Cup Europe Qualifier in the Netherlands in a few weeks, we hope to maintain the momentum from our recent success at Clontarf.”

**Ireland Squad:**

Gaby Lewis (captain), Ava Canning, Christina Coulter Reilly, Laura Delany, Amy Hunter, Arlene Kelly, Louise Little, Jane Maguire, Lara McBride, Cara Murray, Leah Paul, Orla Prendergast, Freya Sargent, Rebecca Stokell.
