Iran's Women Volleyball Team Triumphs at 2026 CAVA Championship

In Kathmandu, Nepal, the Iranian Ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, recently met with the national women's volleyball team to commend them on their remarkable achievement at the 2026 Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Championship. This victory marks the second consecutive championship win for the Iranian women's team.
The Iranian Embassy in India shared the news via a post on X, highlighting Ambassador Fathali's meeting with the team members in Kathmandu, where he expressed his heartfelt wishes for their continued success.
The post stated, "Dr. Mohammad Fathali, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to India and accredited to Nepal, met with members of Iran's national women's volleyball team in Kathmandu and wished them success."
The Embassy celebrated the team's historic accomplishment, praising their determination and passion for the sport, stating, "Pride, zeal, and another golden cup: Iran's history-making women's volleyball double championship at the 2026 Central Asian Games."
Iran achieved an impressive unbeaten streak throughout the tournament, culminating in a 3-1 victory over Kazakhstan in the gold medal match, with set scores of 25-18, 19-25, 25-15, and 25-21, as reported by an Iranian semi-official news agency.
After Kazakhstan equalized by winning the second set, Iran responded with strong performances in the third and fourth sets, securing the championship with a perfect 6-0 record. The team had previously gone unbeaten in the group stage and carried that momentum into the knockout rounds.
Fatemeh Khalili Chermahini led the scoring for Iran in the final with 15 points, followed closely by Elaheh Poorsaleh Shahdehsari with 14 points and Reyhane Karimi contributing 11 points.
