Virat Kohli Achieves Milestone in IPL

New Delhi, April 27: Virat Kohli, the legendary batter for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has etched his name in the annals of Indian Premier League (IPL) history by becoming the first player to amass 9,000 runs in the tournament's history.

This remarkable achievement occurred during RCB's match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, a venue significant to Kohli's cricketing journey. He contributed to a straightforward 76-run chase, finishing with an impressive 23 runs off just 15 balls, which included a four and two sixes, achieving a strike rate of 153.33.

As of now, Kohli has accumulated a total of 9,012 runs across 275 matches, maintaining an average of 40.05 and a strike rate of 133.05. His record includes eight centuries and 66 half-centuries, with his highest score being 113 not out.

Currently, Kohli ranks fourth in the Orange Cap standings, having scored 351 runs in eight innings at an average of 58.50 and a strike rate of 162.50, featuring three fifties and a top score of 81.

With this victory, RCB has secured their sixth win out of eight matches, accumulating 12 points and sitting in second place on the points table. In contrast, DC has suffered their fifth defeat, winning only three matches, which places them seventh in the standings.

RCB chose to bowl first, and outstanding performances from Hazlewood (4 wickets for 12 runs) and Bhuvneshwar (3 wickets for 5 runs) restricted DC to a mere 75 runs in 16.3 overs. Abishek Porel (30) and David Miller (19) were the only players to show some resistance. RCB's batting lineup then took charge, with Jacob Bethell (20 runs off 10 balls), Devdutt Padikkal (34 not out off 13 balls), and Virat Kohli (25 not out off 13 balls) completing the chase in just 6.3 overs.
