Vaibhav Suryavanshi Makes IPL History as Youngest Debutant at 14
Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Historic IPL Debut
In a remarkable achievement, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has etched his name in the record books as the youngest player to debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the tender age of 14. The young talent from Samastipur showcased his skills while playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in 2025. He made an immediate impact by hitting a six off his very first ball and went on to score a brisk 34 runs off just 20 deliveries, featuring two fours and three sixes.
His childhood coach, Brajesh Jha, was among the many who watched with pride as Suryavanshi took the field. Overwhelmed with emotion, Jha expressed his joy, stating, “It fills me with immense pride to see a young boy from Samastipur making a name for himself.”
Jha continued, “It’s a dream come true to see the child I’ve trained for years now shining on television. He is not just fulfilling his dreams but also inspiring the youth of our district.”
Reflecting on Suryavanshi's explosive performance, Jha remarked, “His batting was impressive right from the start. Although he got out, I believe he will learn from this experience and improve. I am confident he will perform even better in the upcoming matches.”
When asked about expectations for Suryavanshi's future games, the coach was optimistic, saying, “I believe he will score well throughout the tournament. He will learn from his mistakes and return stronger—100% in the next match. I am certain he will surpass today’s performance.”
With the nation watching a budding star, Jha's ultimate aspiration for Suryavanshi is clear. “He must aim to represent the country. For me, playing in the IPL or Under-19 is secondary to wearing the national jersey. The greatest joy for Samastipur would be to see him play for India,” he concluded.
