Sooryavanshi's Stellar Performance Leads RR to Victory

In Guwahati, Assam, on April 11, Rajasthan Royals' young talent, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is just 15 years old, shared his approach to batting after a remarkable performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He emphasized that he focuses on the ball rather than the bowler, which helped him score an impressive 78 runs off just 26 balls, leading RR to a six-wicket victory in their IPL 2026 match.

While chasing a target of 202, Sooryavanshi's explosive innings earned him the Player of the Match award. He notably struck 18 runs off Josh Hazlewood in a single over and added 16 runs against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, showcasing his aggressive batting style with eight fours and seven sixes.

With this performance, Sooryavanshi also claimed the IPL 2026 Orange Cap, accumulating 200 runs in just four matches.

During the post-match interview, he expressed his commitment to playing his natural game and reacting to the ball rather than overthinking the bowlers. He mentioned feeling disappointed about his dismissal, believing he could have contributed an additional 10-20 runs to help finish the chase sooner.

"I focus on my practice and avoid trying anything extra. While I am aware of who is bowling, my priority is to play the ball and stick to my game plan. I regret not staying longer at the crease, as I could have helped the team chase the target more comfortably," Sooryavanshi stated.

Rajasthan Royals' victory marked their fourth consecutive win, while RCB faced their first defeat of the season. RR's chase was bolstered by Sooryavanshi's 78 and an unbeaten 81 from Dhruv Jurel, with Ravindra Jadeja contributing 24 runs as they reached the target in just 18 overs.

Earlier, RCB had set a challenging total of 201/8, thanks to captain Rajat Patidar's 63 and a late surge from Venkatesh Iyer. Despite early breakthroughs from Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi, RCB managed to post a competitive score, but it fell short against RR's formidable batting lineup.
