CSK Triumphs with Urvil Patel's Historic Knock

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India] - On May 10, Lucknow Super Giants' captain Rishabh Pant commended Urvil Patel of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for his "fantastic and unbelievable" innings that propelled the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team to a five-wicket victory against LSG in their IPL 2026 clash on Sunday.

Urvil made history by achieving the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history, matching Yashasvi Jaiswal's record. He reached his fifty in just 13 balls at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Chasing a target of 204, Urvil delivered a remarkable 65 runs off 23 balls, featuring eight sixes and two fours.

Post-match, Pant lauded Urvil's remarkable performance, likening it to Josh Inglis' explosive innings for LSG. He acknowledged LSG's resilience in the game but noted areas for improvement. Pant credited CSK for their composure under pressure and highlighted poor fielding and missed catches as significant contributors to LSG's defeat.

"Urvil played a fantastic and unbelievable knock, similar to Inglis for us. The team showed character to bounce back. There are definitely areas to improve, but hats off to CSK – they managed pressure better than we did. We aimed for a target of 200-210, and while they started strong, it became challenging after the powerplay. Our fielding needs to improve; we dropped too many catches," Pant stated during the post-match presentation.

CSK began their innings with a strong performance from skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, and Urvil. Samson scored 28 runs off 14 balls before getting out, while Gaikwad added a solid 42 runs off 28 deliveries. Despite some tight bowling from LSG towards the end, Shivam Dube (15*) finished the match with style, hitting two sixes in the final over.

Earlier, LSG had set a target of 203/8, thanks to a blistering start from Josh Inglis, who scored 85 runs off 33 balls, including a rapid 17-ball fifty. However, CSK made a strong comeback with Jamie Overton (3/36), Anshul Kamboj (2/47), and Noor Ahmad (1/24), managing to restrict LSG after their explosive start.

This victory elevated CSK to fifth place in the IPL standings with six wins from 11 matches, while LSG remained at the bottom with only three wins from 11 games.
