Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 13: Tim David, a batter for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has been penalized 25% of his match fee and received one demerit point for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during a significant match against the Mumbai Indians (MI), who are five-time champions.

According to a statement from the IPL, "Tim David, Batter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has been fined 25% of his match fee and has also accumulated one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 20 against Mumbai Indians (MI)."

David's infraction involved violating Article 2.4 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which pertains to failing to comply with an umpire's instructions during a game. The first incident took place in the 18th over (17.2) of RCB's innings when the umpires changed the ball. David requested to inspect the ball but did not return it despite repeated requests.

The second violation occurred in the 20th over (19.2), where he again failed to hand over the ball to the umpires, demonstrating a continued disregard for the officials' directives.

David acknowledged his wrongdoing and accepted the sanctions imposed by the Match Referee.

As this was his team's first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, he has been fined Rs 12 lakhs," the statement concluded.
