Thrilling Super Over Decides Nuvama T20 Mumbai League Clash
Exciting Match at Wankhede Stadium
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 3: Just three days into the Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai League 2026, the tournament experienced its second Super Over, showcasing an incredible performance by captain Suved Parkar, who achieved a remarkable century off just 46 balls. Despite his impressive score of 110 runs from 54 balls, the Bandra Blasters fell short as Ajinkya Rahane's North Mumbai Panthers narrowly secured their second consecutive win at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.
Batting first on a pitch conducive to high scores, Parkar's explosive innings propelled the Blasters to a formidable total of 228/5, marking the second-highest score in the tournament's history. In response, Hardik Tamore continued his outstanding form with a blistering 83 runs off 39 balls, while Tanush Kotian's late surge helped the Panthers match the Blasters' score, leading to a Super Over showdown.
The Blasters began strongly, with Parkar and Prateekkumar Ravishankar putting together a rapid 101-run partnership for the first wicket in just eight overs. Ravishankar contributed a quick 33 runs off 15 balls before being dismissed, while Parkar launched a stunning assault on off-spinner Tanush Kotian, hitting three consecutive sixes to reach his century in record time. He later formed a 67-run partnership with Parag Khanapurkar, who scored 22 runs off 15 balls, before falling for a spectacular 110, which included 10 fours and seven sixes.
Even after Parkar's exit, the Blasters maintained their aggressive scoring pace, with Jay Jain (28 not out) and Dhrumil Matkar (28) combining for a swift 52-run partnership, with Matkar hitting three sixes in a row to push the team past the 200-run mark.
In reply, Hardik kept the Panthers in contention with a rapid half-century, reaching his 50 in just 17 balls and forming crucial partnerships with skipper Rahane (15) and Abhigyan Kundu (39).
The Blasters seemed to regain control when leg-spinner Sagar Chhabriaa took three quick wickets, dismissing Tamore, Ayush Vartak, and Aayush Zimare. However, Tanush Kotian fought back, scoring 32 runs off 14 balls, including two sixes and two fours, to help the Panthers tie the match at 228 runs, leading to the Super Over.
During the Super Over, Vaibhav Mali hit two sixes and a four, allowing the Panthers to post 20 runs for the loss of one wicket. The Blasters, however, could only manage 7 runs without losing a wicket.
Later in the day, Shardul Thakur's Eagle Thane Strikers will look to maintain their winning streak against the Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburb, led by Sarfaraz Khan. The Tigers will be eager to secure their first win after a narrow defeat in their tournament opener.
