Sunrisers Hyderabad's Debutants Shine in IPL Victory Against Rajasthan Royals
Impressive Debut Performance by SRH Bowlers
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India] - April 14: Varun Aaron, the pace bowling coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), expressed his admiration for debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain following their remarkable performance against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday. Their contributions were pivotal in securing a 57-run victory for SRH, with both bowlers claiming four wickets each.
Praful Hinge, aged 24, and 21-year-old Sakib Hussain replaced seasoned players Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat in the IPL 2026 match. Praful recorded impressive figures of 4/34 in 4 overs, while Sakib achieved 4/24 in his 4 overs.
During the post-match press conference, Aaron highlighted the significance of their performance, stating, "To witness two debutants bowl so effectively was a dream come true for the team."
Both bowlers made history in the IPL with their four-wicket hauls on debut. Praful, representing Vidarbha, made an immediate impact by dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a golden duck in the first over of RR's innings. He followed this by taking out Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan-dre Pretorius in the same over, leaving RR at a precarious 1-3. He later claimed the wicket of RR captain Riyan Parag in the third over.
Sakib, hailing from Bihar, also made his mark by taking the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, RR's top scorer Donovan Ferreira, Jofra Archer, and Ravi Bishnoi, contributing to SRH bowling out RR for 159 in just 19 overs.
Varun Aaron emphasized the importance of executing their game plan from the outset and encouraged the debutants to relish the experience. He remarked on the significance of their achievements given their journey to this point.
"Our focus was on committing to our execution, and that’s precisely what we accomplished from the beginning. My only advice was for them to enjoy the game. Debuting is a unique experience in any form of cricket, and considering their backgrounds, what they achieved today is monumental," he stated.
Earlier in the match, SRH set a formidable target of 216/6, driven by captain Ishan's explosive 91 off 44 balls, which included eight fours and six sixes. Contributions also came from Heinrich Klaasen (40 off 26 balls) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (28 off 13 balls).
