SRH Secures Victory Against RCB
In a thrilling conclusion to the IPL 2026 league stage, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) emerged victorious against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by a margin of 55 runs. This match, held in Hyderabad, showcased a stellar performance from Ishan Kishan, who played a pivotal role in SRH's success.
Kishan was awarded the Player of the Match title for his impressive innings of 79 runs off 46 deliveries, which included eight boundaries and three sixes. His explosive batting helped SRH set a formidable target of 255 runs.
After receiving his award, Kishan expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I’m just happy about it, taking one game at a time. I feel confident when playing against RCB. It’s not just about maturity; it’s about making the right shot selections. From the beginning, our goal was to finish in the top two. Having Pat Cummins, one of the best bowlers, is a huge advantage. Credit goes to everyone for keeping us focused. It’s all about enjoying the game, and I appreciate the support from the staff and Pat.”
In response to SRH's massive total, RCB started their innings with Venkatesh Iyer, who scored a brisk 44 runs off just 19 balls. Rajat Patidar contributed a half-century, while Krunal Pandya added an unbeaten 41 runs from 31 balls, but RCB ultimately fell short of the target.
Eshan Malinga claimed two wickets for SRH, while Travis Head and Sakib Hussain each took one wicket. Hussain, just 21 years old, expressed his excitement after dismissing Virat Kohli, calling it his 'dream wicket'.
“My strategy was to assess the pitch and bowl accordingly. Getting Kohli out is a dream come true for me. We aimed to bowl slower deliveries, and I’m focused on improving my game. We’ll give our all in the upcoming matches,” Hussain remarked post-match.
Earlier in the match, SRH opted to bat first, achieving a total of 255/4, bolstered by half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma (56 off 22 balls), Heinrich Klaasen (51 off 24 balls), and Kishan. Contributions from Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy also played a crucial role in setting a competitive score.
For RCB, Rasikh Salam Dar took two wickets, while Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya each claimed one. Despite this defeat, RCB finished at the top of the league table with nine wins and five losses, totaling 18 points.
