Sunrisers Hyderabad Posts 162 Against Mumbai Indians in IPL Clash
Sunrisers Hyderabad's Late Surge Secures Competitive Total
In a thrilling encounter at the Wankhede Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to score 162 runs for the loss of 5 wickets against Mumbai Indians, showcasing a late batting surge on a challenging pitch during their Indian Premier League match on Thursday.
The pitch conditions proved difficult, with spinners gaining grip and turn, while pace bowlers also found success with slower deliveries, making it tough for the Sunrisers' batsmen to settle in for most of their innings.
However, a strong finish, which saw them accumulate 57 runs in the last five overs, provided the much-needed momentum for SRH.
The Mumbai bowlers executed their plans effectively, with Jasprit Bumrah delivering an economical spell of 4 overs for just 21 runs and a wicket, while Trent Boult also impressed with 4 overs for 29 runs and a wicket. Will Jacks stood out with remarkable figures of 3 overs, 14 runs, and 2 wickets.
SRH's batting woes were apparent from the outset, although Abhishek Sharma managed to score 40 runs off 28 balls, hitting seven boundaries.
The innings began with a dramatic first over where both SRH openers received lucky breaks off Deepak Chahar's bowling.
Abhishek attempted an aggressive shot on the first ball, edging it, but Jacks could not hold onto the catch. Later, Travis Head also benefited from a missed catch by Karn Sharma at midwicket.
Abhishek seemed to find his rhythm, striking three fours off Chahar in the fifth over, but the team struggled to build momentum.
While Karn missed an early catch, substitute fielder Raj Angad Bawa made no mistake when Abhishek hit a shot off Hardik Pandya in the eighth over, marking the first breakthrough for MI.
Jacks then claimed the crucial wicket of Ishan Kishan, stumping him for just two runs.
Meanwhile, Head struggled to find his footing, managing only 28 runs off 29 balls, despite a no-ball reprieve in the 10th over.
MI's tight bowling was evident as the first six of the match did not come until the 18th over, when Heinrich Klaasen, scoring 37 off 28 balls, hit three fours and two sixes, taking 21 runs off Chahar's final over.
In the last over, Aniket Verma hit two sixes, and Pat Cummins added another, contributing a crucial 22 runs off Pandya's final over.
