Vettori Highlights Reddy's All-Round Skills

In Hyderabad, head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Daniel Vettori, expressed his admiration for all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, emphasizing his eagerness to contribute in various aspects of the game. Vettori noted that Reddy's ability to bowl at any point during a match is a significant asset.

Speaking to the press before the upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants, Vettori remarked, "Last year, Nitish was unable to bowl due to an injury, which limited our options. However, he is a player who thrives on being involved in every facet of the game. When that involvement is restricted, it can impact a player's performance. We are excited to see the all-round talent that made him a standout for Sunrisers in previous seasons, and now he has the chance to demonstrate that once again."

SRH kicked off their IPL 2026 journey with a loss to the reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but bounced back with a convincing 65-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders.

As they prepare for their first home match of the season, Vettori is particularly enthusiastic about Reddy's bowling capabilities. He stated, "The advantage for him is his flexibility to bowl at any stage, allowing us to strategize based on the opponent and match conditions. His performance during crucial middle overs has been vital, especially when it was challenging to reintroduce spin at that moment."

The 22-year-old Reddy has bowled two overs in each of the matches so far, claiming two wickets against KKR at Eden Gardens, taking down Anukul Roy and Rinku Singh.

Reflecting on those key wickets, Vettori commented, "Those were significant dismissals, and Reddy is gaining confidence in his abilities. He approaches every situation with professionalism, whether batting or bowling, and we witnessed his importance to the team in the last match."
