Sporting Club Delhi Prepares for ISL Opener

New Delhi, October 8: Sporting Club Delhi is gearing up to launch its Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 season with a match against Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on October 10.

In a pre-match press conference, key figures including CEO Dhruv Sood, Head Coach Tomasz Tchórz, and midfielder Lalrinliana Hnamte shared insights into the club's aspirations and strategies for the upcoming season.

This new season offers Sporting Club Delhi a chance to build upon the groundwork established last year and to solidify its identity as a representative of the capital. The team has been bolstered with a blend of seasoned Indian players, promising newcomers, and international signings, while Tchórz has been diligently preparing the squad during an intensive pre-season.

Facing Bengaluru FC will be a significant challenge, but Sporting Club Delhi aims to start the season on a strong note, even in an away match.

Dhruv Sood expressed, “The opening match of a new season is always a pivotal moment, and we are thrilled to face a club of Bengaluru’s caliber. We have dedicated the past few months to assembling the right components, both on and off the field, and there is a palpable sense of confidence within the team. Our goal extends beyond mere participation in the MG ISL; we aspire to create a club that resonates with the people of Delhi and makes them proud. Bengaluru will be a formidable first challenge, and we are eager to compete.”

Tomasz Tchórz added, “Bengaluru is a well-structured and organized team, serving as a good benchmark for us. While it will be a tough match, no team is invincible in the MG ISL. We will approach the game with a competitive spirit, ready to attack and strive for a positive outcome.”

Lalrinliana Hnamte stated, “I am both mentally and physically prepared for the season. We are a youthful squad, but we are eager for success, and we believe we can achieve great things this season. My focus is on giving my all and helping the team reach our objectives.”
