Shubman Gill's Stellar Performance for Gujarat Titans

New Delhi [India], April 8: Shubman Gill, captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT), has been making waves as a key partnership-batter for his team. In the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Delhi Capitals (DC), he achieved his 11th century partnership for the franchise.

Gill delivered an impressive performance, scoring 70 runs off just 45 balls, featuring four boundaries and five sixes. He formed a significant 104-run partnership with Washington Sundar, who celebrated his first IPL fifty during the match.

Since the team's establishment in 2022, the Titans have recorded 13 century partnerships, with Gill contributing to 11 of them, underscoring his importance as a leading batter for the franchise.

Out of these partnerships, seven have been with his opening partner, Sai Sudharsan, while he has also partnered with Wriddhiman Saha twice, and once each with Vijay Shankar and Washington Sundar.

The two partnerships not involving Gill were a 119-run stand between Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford last season in Ahmedabad, and a 106-run partnership between David Miller and Hardik Pandya in the 2022 qualifier against Rajasthan Royals.

Gill is on the verge of a significant milestone, needing just 25 more runs to reach 4,000 runs in the IPL. Across 120 matches and 117 innings, he has accumulated 3,975 runs, boasting an average of 39.75 and a strike rate of 139.03, which includes four centuries and 27 fifties.

In the match, DC won the toss and chose to bowl first. After an early dismissal of Sai Sudharsan (12), a crucial 60-run partnership between Jos Buttler (52 runs off 27 balls, with three fours and five sixes) and Shubman Gill helped GT regain momentum. Following this, the 104-run partnership between Gill (70 runs off 45 balls) and Washington Sundar (55 runs off 32 balls, with six fours and two sixes) further established GT's dominance in the game.

Glenn Phillips (14* off nine balls, including a four and a six) and Rahul Tewatia (1*) remained not out as GT finished their innings at 210/4 in 20 overs.

Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler for DC, taking 2 wickets for 55 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav and Lungi Ngidi each claimed one wicket.
