Shubman Gill Achieves Milestone in IPL 2026
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] - On April 12, Shubman Gill made history by becoming the youngest cricketer to reach the 4,000-run mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This remarkable feat occurred during the Gujarat Titans' match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, where Gill surpassed the previous record held by the iconic Virat Kohli.
At just 26 years and 216 days old, Gill achieved this milestone, breaking Kohli's record of 27 years and 195 days, which he set in 2016. Currently, Gill has amassed a total of 4,031 runs in 118 IPL innings, boasting an impressive average of 39.91, including 28 half-centuries and four centuries.
In terms of the number of innings played, Gill ranks as the fifth fastest player to reach 4,000 runs in IPL history. KL Rahul holds the record for the quickest, having accomplished this in only 104 innings.
During the match, while chasing a target of 165 runs, Gill contributed significantly with a score of 56 runs off 40 balls, featuring six fours and a six. His performance, alongside Jos Buttler's explosive 60 runs off 37 balls, enabled the Titans to secure victory by seven wickets, achieving the target in just 18.4 overs.
With this win, the Gujarat Titans now sit in fifth place on the IPL 2026 points table, with two victories and two losses, totaling four points. Conversely, the Lucknow Super Giants have dropped to sixth place, sharing the same win-loss record.
In their innings, LSG managed to score 164 runs for the loss of eight wickets, with Aiden Markram being the only player to surpass 20 runs, scoring 30 off 21 balls. Krishna was the standout bowler for GT, taking 4 wickets for 28 runs.
