Shubman Gill Returns to Lead Gujarat Titans Against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026
Gujarat Titans Prepare for Crucial Match
New Delhi [India] - April 7: Shubman Gill, the appointed captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT), is set to make his comeback in the team's upcoming match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) during the ongoing IPL 2026 season, scheduled for Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The Titans faced a significant setback when Gill was unable to participate in their last match against the Rajasthan Royals on April 4 due to a muscle spasm. In his absence, Rashid Khan took over the captaincy.
During the pre-match press conference ahead of the GT vs DC encounter, Sai Sudharsan assured fans that Shubman is now "completely fine."
"Shubman has no issues; he is completely fine. He will be ready," Sudharsan confirmed on Tuesday.
Additionally, Shubman was seen practicing in the nets prior to the match on Wednesday.
As of now, the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans are still searching for their first victory in the IPL 2026 season. They have suffered defeats in both of their matches thus far, losing to Punjab Kings by three wickets in their opening game and narrowly falling to the Rajasthan Royals by six runs.
Reflecting on the team's performance, Sudharsan mentioned that they have gained valuable insights from their initial losses and are determined to apply these lessons to achieve their first win in IPL 2026 and regain their momentum.
"We have reviewed these two games, and we have certainly learned a lot. We are looking forward to implementing those lessons to secure our first win and regain our momentum," he stated.
Currently, the Gujarat Titans sit at the ninth position in the IPL 2026 points table, having no points from two matches and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.424. They are one of only two teams this season without any points, alongside the Chennai Super Kings, who have also lost all three of their matches.
