Shubman Gill Aims for IPL Glory and T20I Comeback with Gujarat Titans
Shubman Gill's Crucial IPL Season Ahead
New Chandigarh (Punjab) [India] - March 31: Shubman Gill, the captain of Gujarat Titans (GT) and a prominent Indian opener, is gearing up for what could be his most pivotal season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With aspirations of clinching the trophy and making a return to the T20I squad for India, Gill is focused and ready.
Last season, Gill emerged as the fourth-highest run-scorer, amassing 650 runs in 15 innings, which included six fifties and a striking rate exceeding 155. He is set to face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in New Chandigarh, bringing with him renewed vigor and a solid track record from the previous season.
During the last IPL season, Gill excelled in away matches, scoring 446 runs across seven innings with an impressive average of 89.20, achieving five of his six fifties in these games. His away strike rate stood at over 148.
However, his performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was less than stellar, where he accumulated only 204 runs in eight innings at an average of 25.50, including just one half-century. Despite a strike rate above 175, he struggled to convert his aggressive style into substantial scores.
In his IPL career with GT, Gill has played 60 matches, scoring 2,449 runs at an average of 46.21 and a strike rate of 149.79, featuring four centuries and 16 fifties, with a top score of 129. Overall, he has tallied 3,866 runs in 115 innings, averaging 39.45 with a strike rate of 138.72, including four centuries and 26 fifties.
