New Delhi, April 24: Shreyas Iyer, the captain of Punjab Kings (PBKS), is just 61 runs shy of reaching the impressive 4,000-run mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
This significant achievement could occur during the upcoming match against his previous team, Delhi Capitals (DC), at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Throughout his IPL career, Iyer has participated in 139 matches, accumulating 3,939 runs with an average of 34.85 and a strike rate of 135.26. His record includes 30 half-centuries, with a top score of 97 not out.
In the current season, he has scored 208 runs across five innings, boasting an average of 52.00 and an impressive strike rate of 182.45, highlighted by a best score of 69 not out and three fours.
For PBKS, Iyer has tallied 812 runs in 23 matches and 22 innings, averaging 50.75 with a strike rate of 176.90, including nine fifties and a highest score of 97 not out.
During his tenure with KKR from 2022 to 2024, he amassed 752 runs in 29 matches and 28 innings, averaging 34.18 with a strike rate exceeding 140, including five fifties, and a best score of 85.
His longest stint was with DC, where he ranks as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the franchise's history, with 2,375 runs in 87 matches at an average of 31.66 and a strike rate nearing 124, which includes 16 fifties. His highest score with DC was 96 not out.
