Shivam Dube Reflects on CSK's Comeback Victory Against LSG in IPL
CSK's Resurgence in IPL: Dube's Insights
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] April 15: After securing a victory against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Shivam Dube of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emphasized the significance of maintaining focus even after losing wickets, particularly following a series of defeats.
“This win is crucial for us, especially after losing five consecutive matches, which is uncharacteristic for CSK. Our bowlers performed exceptionally well, and I aimed to stay until the end. I believed it was essential to take the game deep after we lost a few wickets,” Dube remarked during the post-match interview.
Dube pointed out the necessity of adjusting one's strategy based on the match situation. He opted for a more conservative approach, focusing on extending the innings rather than aggressive batting, given the bowlers' strong performance. He also stressed the importance of learning from this match to carry forward positive lessons into future games.
“It’s not just about mindset; it’s about adapting to the situation. Therefore, I felt that taking the game deep was a more prudent choice instead of going for big hits. My strategy was straightforward: not to overexert myself since the bowlers were executing their plans effectively. It’s vital to take the positives from this match into the next one,” he added.
CSK ended their losing streak with a significant five-wicket victory over LSG in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday.
MS Dhoni's remarkable performance, alongside Dube's steady yet aggressive innings, helped Chennai break their five-match winless run.
Dhoni remained not out at 26 off 11 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six, while Dube scored 43 not out from 37 balls, leading CSK to victory in the final over with three balls remaining.
