Kapur Maintains Lead at IGPL Invitational

Ras Al Khaimah [UAE], September 24: Shiv Kapur showcased his skills at the IGPL Invitational, following his impressive opening round of 10-under with a solid 3-under 69, allowing him to retain the lead after two rounds. This performance keeps the RVR Delhi Blue Bulls in the hunt for the team championship, as reported by a press release.

Following a remarkable 10-under start, Kapur faced the challenge of maintaining his momentum. However, the seasoned golfer managed to secure his position at the top, finishing the day at 13-under. His efforts have propelled the RVR Delhi Blue Bulls to a tie for the lead with the Auro Goa Eagles, both teams sitting at 17-under after two rounds.

The Auro Goa Eagles benefited from Varun Chopra's excellent play, who shot a 4-under 68 to complement his first-round score of 66, placing him second at 10-under, three strokes behind Kapur.

Veer Ganapathy, representing GolfKonnect Bengaluru Stallions, has once again caught attention, currently at 5-under with rounds of 69 and 70, trailing the leader by eight shots. He is tied with Gaganjeet Bhullar and Varun Parikh, who both had varying performances compared to their first rounds.

Kapur began his round strongly, securing birdies on the second, third, and seventh holes, reaching 3-under early on. However, he faced his first bogey of the tournament on the ninth hole after an impressive streak of 26 bogey-free holes.

On the back nine, he recorded three more birdies on the 13th, 14th, and 18th holes, but also had bogeys on the 12th and 16th, finishing with a score of 69.

“I wasn’t focused on my 10-under from yesterday. It was a great round, but today I aimed to stay present and play consistently, despite some dropped shots. I’m three shots clear, but there’s still one round left. This course allows for low scores, and a strong start can make younger players quite dangerous,” Kapur commented.

Sachin Baisoya, with scores of 72 and 68, is in sixth place at 4-under. Meanwhile, Trishul Chinappa, Kanav Chauhan, and Shaurya Binu are tied for seventh at 3-under.

The top ten is completed by Aryan Roopa Anand, Tushar Pannu, and Ravi Kumar, all at 2-under.

In the team standings, RVR Delhi Blue Bulls and Auro Goa Eagles are tied for the lead at 17-under, with Kapur contributing significantly to the Delhi team's score. His teammates include Aryan Roopa Anand, Chiragh Kumar, and Gaurav Ghei.

For the Goa team, Varun Chopra has been a key player with a total of 10-under. His teammates are Kanav Chauhan, Saarthak Chibber, and IL Aalaap.

Flying Man Kolkata, led by Varun Parikh at 5-under, is currently in third place, with team members Kartik Sharma, Sukhman Singh, and Syed Saqib Ahmed.
