Shardul Thakur Joins Lucknow Super Giants as Replacement for Injured Mohsin Khan
Shardul Thakur Returns to IPL with Lucknow Super Giants
Following an unsuccessful auction, Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur is making a comeback to the IPL, having been signed by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a substitute for the injured Mohsin Khan.
LSG, now under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, is set to kick off their season against the Delhi Capitals on Monday.
As reported by ESPNcricinfo, the 33-year-old Thakur is presently with the LSG team in Visakhapatnam.
After undergoing foot surgery, Thakur had an impressive performance in the Ranji Trophy, amassing 505 runs and taking 35 wickets across nine matches for Mumbai. He had also signed with Essex to participate in county cricket.
However, he had previously informed Essex of his willingness to accept an IPL offer should a franchise require a replacement player.
Mohsin Khan, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his right knee during the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the end of December, is currently in rehabilitation. Although he has joined the LSG camp, he is working with the support staff to plan his recovery.
