Watson Applauds Rahul's Performance Against LSG

New Delhi [India] - On April 23, former Australian cricketer Shane Watson expressed admiration for KL Rahul's methodical batting style during the match against Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

During his appearance on Match Centre Live via JioHotstar, Watson emphasized Rahul's adaptability, showcasing his importance to the Delhi Capitals squad.

“KL Rahul executed his game plan perfectly,” Watson remarked about the DC batter's innings against LSG. “He played with a steady hand, avoiding unnecessary risks and choosing the right moments to attack. His ability to adjust his game is impressive; while he has been aggressive throughout the tournament, today he displayed calmness and strategy. This versatility adds significant depth to the Delhi Capitals,” Watson noted.

Watson also pointed out Axar Patel's dynamic performance, contrasting it with the bowling shortcomings of LSG.

He commended Axar's leadership and dedication as captain, suggesting that Rishabh Pant of LSG could learn from him. “The pitch improved for batting, but Axar's aggressive mindset from the start was remarkable. LSG's bowlers struggled against him early, and he took full advantage. This is the kind of innings we expected from Rishabh Pant. Axar led by example, bowled his four overs consecutively, and made a significant impact. His commitment as skipper is evident, which we haven't consistently seen from Rishabh,” he added.

Rahul's explosive performance, along with Abhishek Porel's steady half-century, propelled Delhi Capitals to an 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Following a strong bowling effort, the partnership between Rahul and Porel ensured a smooth path to victory. Rahul, who previously played for Lucknow for three seasons, silenced the crowd with his record-setting 57*, bringing DC level on points with Gujarat Titans at 12.

This match marked Rahul's 40th half-century in the IPL, making him the fastest player to reach 5000 runs in the league's history.
