After Sunrisers Hyderabad's 10-wicket thrashing of LSG in Hyderabad on May 8, Goenka was in the eye of a storm after his animated chat with Rahul was believed to be a public dressing down of the captain. Former cricketers and fans took to the field after the incident and pointed all guns at Goenka, labeling his actions as unnecessary. Silence from the LSG camp also added fuel and a few days later reports of KL Rahul likely to step down as captain for the rest of IPL 2024 and Rahul unlikely to be retained by LSG ahead of IPL2025 action - to be held later. This year - the situation only worsened.
However, images shared by social media influencers now paint a different picture with Goenka and Rahul sharing a warm embrace. LSG coach Justin Langer, in an interview with the media, also revealed what exactly happened during this conversation, and according to the 53-year-old the conversation 'might have looked aggressive, but it was very calm'. “Our plan for the game did not go perfectly. In fact, it was a disaster. After the game, Mr. Goenka came to the ground and asked KL, 'What happened? Our plan that we talked about did not work. What do we do now?' And then we talked. The sound was muted, no one heard what was said. It might look quite aggressive, but it was actually very tame,” Langer said.
