Praise for Shubman Gill's Captaincy

In Ahmedabad, Sai Sudharsan, a batter for India and the Gujarat Titans (GT), expressed admiration for Shubman Gill's leadership skills, emphasizing his reliability and intuitive approach to captaincy.

Sudharsan remarked that Gill has a keen understanding of his teammates' needs, fostering a relaxed and supportive atmosphere that allows players to feel appreciated and perform optimally. He believes this quality positions Gill among the top captains he has experienced.

"Shubman Gill is incredibly trustworthy and instinctive. He comprehends what his players need and ensures they feel at ease within the team. This is a vital trait for a captain, as players must feel they belong and can perform without pressure. He excels in this regard, making him one of the finest captains I've played under," Sudharsan stated.

The Gujarat Titans, who made their IPL debut in 2022 and clinched the title that year, are aiming for another championship in the upcoming 2026 season under Gill's leadership. After a disappointing playoff miss in 2024 and an eliminator exit in 2025, the India Test and ODI captain is determined to lead his team to success.

Sudharsan highlighted the IPL as an exceptional platform for Indian cricketers, noting that it offers exposure to top-tier competition. He believes this experience is crucial for players to recognize their improvement areas, contributing to India's emergence as a T20 cricket powerhouse.

"The IPL is one of the best opportunities any cricketer can have. This exposure is a significant factor in India's rise in T20 cricket, as it helps players understand what they need to enhance and how to improve," he added.

The IPL 2026 season is set to commence on March 28, with the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Gujarat Titans will play their opening match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 31 in Mullanpur.
