Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] - As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season approaches, Sai Sudharsan, the talented batter for India and Gujarat Titans (GT), has stressed the importance of maintaining a calm and focused mindset. He expressed that his main goal is to remain present and dedicate himself to contributing to his team's success.
Having prepared extensively for the upcoming tournament, Sudharsan feels confident in his readiness to perform. He emphasized that instead of worrying about future results, he is directing all his efforts towards helping GT secure victories.
In a recent interview, Sudharsan stated, “I prefer to keep things simple; we have a crucial task ahead. I believe I have adequately prepared myself and created the best conditions for success before the tournament kicks off. My focus is solely on the present and giving my all to help our team win.”
Sudharsan had an outstanding IPL 2025 season, earning the Orange Cap with a remarkable total of 759 runs in 15 matches, boasting an average of 54.21 and an impressive strike rate of 156.17, which included a century and six half-centuries.
Since his IPL debut in 2022, he has accumulated 1793 runs across 40 matches, maintaining an impressive average of 49.81, with two centuries and 12 fifties to his credit.
He also commended GT's head coach, Ashish Nehra, for his player-focused coaching approach, noting Nehra's keen understanding of each player's strengths and areas for improvement.
“Ashu bhai (Ashish Nehra) is a coach who truly connects with players; he recognizes their strengths and weaknesses. He provides tailored advice on what I need to enhance my batting, which is a remarkable quality of his,” Sudharsan remarked.
GT made their IPL debut in 2022, clinching the championship in their inaugural season. The following year, they reached the finals but were defeated by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
In IPL 2024, GT did not advance to the second round, and they faced elimination against the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025.
The IPL 2026 season is set to commence on March 28, with the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad, while GT will face the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their opening match on March 31 in Mullanpur.
