Riyan Parag's Surgery and Recovery Plans

Indian cricketer Riyan Parag, who captains the Rajasthan Royals (RR), has recently had surgery on his right shoulder and is now set to embark on a rehabilitation journey before he can return to competitive cricket.

The exact timeline for his recovery remains uncertain. Parag took to Instagram to share the news of his successful surgery, expressing relief and optimism.

He wrote, "The shoulder finally won. For those who have been inquiring, the surgery is complete and went well. The last two years have challenged me in unexpected ways, with both good and frustrating days. There were times when simply participating in a game felt daunting. However, I wouldn’t change a thing. Now, I face a new challenge—recovery, rehabilitation, and patience. I’ll be back doing what I love soon. See you on the other side."

Previously, Parag was set to be part of the India A team for a 50-over tri-series in Sri Lanka, where he was appointed vice-captain. However, he had to withdraw due to a hamstring injury, leading to Ruturaj Gaikwad taking his place.

This hamstring issue had already caused him to miss a match against the Lucknow Super Giants during the latter part of the IPL 2026 season.

Despite his discomfort, Parag played in RR's crucial final league match against the Mumbai Indians and participated in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 matches, although he showed signs of struggle while running.

As reported by ESPNcricinfo, Parag had been working with the BCCI medical team to manage his condition, with surgery being a potential option. Although doctors suggested he could postpone the surgery until it impacted his performance, Parag decided to proceed with the operation after discussions with the medical staff.
