RCB's Jitesh Sharma Emphasizes Team Focus Ahead of IPL Clash with CSK
RCB Prepares for Key IPL Match Against CSK
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] - April 4: Jitesh Sharma, the wicket-keeper batter and vice-captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), stated that the team is concentrating on their own strengths and preparations rather than fixating on their opponents. This comes ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scheduled for April 5 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
As defending champions, RCB will take on the five-time IPL winners CSK in their second match of the season. RCB is riding high after a convincing six-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening game and aims to maintain that winning momentum against CSK.
During a pre-match press conference, Sharma highlighted the team's strategy, stating, “We are simply focusing on our own process instead of dwelling on what they have accomplished in the past week. Our main concern is our preparation.”
RCB has a favorable record against CSK, having won their last three encounters. However, Sharma emphasized the importance of taking it one game at a time, concentrating on their strengths and the weaknesses of their opponents rather than past performances. “I learned about the 3-0 record after arriving here. As a player and as a team, we prioritize one game at a time instead of fixating on statistics. We aim to stay present and strategize based on our strengths and their weaknesses,” he remarked.
Sharma also expressed that his role as vice-captain inspires him to put in additional effort to support the team’s success. “Receiving such responsibility makes you feel grateful and privileged. I strive to contribute to the team's victory in any way I can, and this leadership role adds to that sense of responsibility,” he concluded.
