Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] - As Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) gears up for their upcoming match against the Gujarat Titans on Friday, Mo Bobat, the Director of Cricket, emphasized the team's commitment to an aggressive style of play and the importance of seizing opportunities.
RCB will face GT in Bengaluru before heading to Delhi for a match against the Delhi Capitals on April 27. Currently, RCB holds the second position in the points table, boasting four victories and two defeats, totaling eight points.
Bobat stated, “Our aim is to play with aggression both in batting and bowling. More crucially, we need to be courageous, especially during pivotal moments in the game. If we maintain this approach, the outcomes will follow.”
Reflecting on the team's current standing, Bobat highlighted the significance of prioritizing performance over rankings. “While it's gratifying to have secured four wins, what truly matters is that we have largely played in alignment with our desired style. We assess ourselves based on our performance, not just the table. The competition remains tight, so our focus is solely on the next match,” he remarked.
Bobat also praised captain Rajat Patidar for his calm demeanor and decision-making skills under pressure. “We strategize with an aggressive mindset, but Rajat is the one making the calls on the field, and he excels at it. His ability to remain composed, even in chaotic situations, and trust his instincts is a remarkable trait for a leader,” he noted.
Discussing the team's preparation during a brief break in the schedule, he mentioned the importance of recovery and player involvement: “Having some downtime after our last game was beneficial for relaxation and recovery. We also utilized this time to engage with players who haven't had much playing time, which is essential. Overall, our buildup to this match has been quite standard.”
Looking forward to the challenge posed by the Gujarat Titans, Bobat acknowledged their consistent performance while reiterating RCB's focus: “They are a team we hold in high regard due to their consistent track record.
