RCB's Strong Performance in Guwahati

In the 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 held in Guwahati on April 10, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) showcased a remarkable batting display, led by captain Rajat Patidar and all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. Despite a rain delay, RCB managed to score an impressive 201 runs for the loss of 8 wickets while batting first against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals chose to bowl first, a decision that initially seemed advantageous. Jofra Archer made an immediate impact by dismissing Phil Salt for a golden duck on the very first ball of the match.

Archer continued to apply pressure, taking out Devdutt Padikkal (14 off 7) in the third over. Although Virat Kohli started strong with 32 runs off 16 balls, his innings ended prematurely when he was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi in the fifth over. RCB found themselves in a precarious position at 62/4 after just seven overs, with Krunal Pandya falling shortly after.

As wickets tumbled, Rajat Patidar took charge, reaching his half-century in just 35 balls. The turning point came in the 17th over when he launched a fierce attack on Ravi Bishnoi, hitting two consecutive sixes that revitalized RCB's innings. Patidar's aggressive knock of 63 runs, featuring 4 fours and 4 sixes, was crucial before he was caught by Sandeep Sharma in the 18th over.

Venkatesh Iyer, who was brought in as an impact substitute, played a vital role in pushing RCB's total past 200. He scored 29 runs off 15 balls, including a significant contribution in the final over, which yielded 21 runs. Romario Shepherd also added 22 runs, helping RCB finish strong.

While Rajasthan's bowlers started well, they struggled to contain the scoring in the death overs. Jofra Archer (2/33 in 3 overs), Ravi Bishnoi (2/32 in 4 overs), and Brijesh Sharma (2/37 in 4 overs) were the standout bowlers for RR.
