RCB Opts to Bowl First Against MI in Crucial IPL Clash
Match Preview: RCB vs MI
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 10: In a pivotal Indian Premier League (IPL) match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to field first against the Mumbai Indians at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium on Sunday.
RCB finds itself at a critical point in their season, having suffered back-to-back losses to the Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, which has dropped them to fourth place in the standings. However, they are still in the race for a playoff position.
On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians are entering this match with a boost in morale after a strong win against Lucknow Super Giants, where they successfully chased a challenging target of 229 runs.
Currently, MI is in a precarious position, sitting at 9th in the table, making this match a must-win for them to keep their tournament hopes alive.
“We will bowl first. The pitch looks good and hard. Our aim is to restrict them and then chase down the target. The conditions are familiar, and we have great support here. We are sticking with the same team. Despite recent losses, our focus is on our performance rather than the opponent,” Patidar stated during the toss.
MI captain Suryakumar Yadav expressed confidence in batting first, noting, “It’s a big ground with a black soil wicket, and setting a score will put pressure on the chasing team. We are maintaining the same lineup and continually working on our bowling strategies.”
