RCB Introduces Abhinandan Singh for IPL 2026 Debut Against SRH

RCB's Bold Decision to Debut Abhinandan Singh

In a significant move, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has given Abhinandan Singh his first opportunity to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, March 28. This match marks the beginning of RCB's title defense after their historic win last year.

With Yash Dayal absent from the squad this season, RCB faced a crucial decision. Ultimately, Abhinandan was chosen over other uncapped fast bowlers, Rasikh Salam Darr and Mangesh Yadav, to join the playing XI.

Introducing Abhinandan Singh

Abhinandan Singh is approaching his 29th birthday on March 30. This match not only marks his debut for RCB but also his first appearance in the IPL and professional cricket, as he has yet to compete in domestic matches for Uttar Pradesh (UP). Known for his ability to bowl at a rapid pace and 'hit the deck,' he remains relatively untested at higher levels of competition.

RCB acquired Abhinandan for his base price of ₹30 Lakhs during the 2025 IPL mega auction. Although he was part of the championship-winning squad last year and received a winner's medal, he did not participate in any matches throughout the season but was retained for the current edition. This marks Abhinandan's inaugural IPL contract.
