RCB Dominates CSK with a Record-Breaking 250 Runs in IPL Clash
RCB's Explosive Performance Against CSK
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 5: In a thrilling display of batting, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) set a formidable target of 250 runs for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during their IPL match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.
After being asked to bat first, RCB's Virat Kohli (28 runs off 18 balls, including two fours and a six) and Phil Salt (46 runs off 30 balls, with three fours and two sixes) struggled to build momentum initially. However, explosive innings from Devdutt Padikkal (50 runs off 29 balls, featuring six fours and two sixes), Rajat Patidar (48 not out off 19 balls, with one four and six sixes), and Tim David (70 not out off 25 balls, including three fours and eight sixes) propelled RCB to a massive score. The duo of David and Patidar forged a remarkable 99-run partnership for the fourth wicket in just 35 balls, contributing to a total of 19 sixes hit during the innings.
RCB's innings began slowly, with the openers managing only 17 runs in the first three overs without any boundaries. Kohli broke the shackles with a six over midwicket and a four through mid-off against Matt Henry in the fourth over.
Just as Kohli seemed to settle in, he was dismissed by Anshul Kamboj, caught by Shivam Dube after scoring 28 runs off 18 balls. RCB was at 37/1 in 4.3 overs.
Salt ended the powerplay with a stylish four, bringing RCB to 50 runs in six overs.
Continuing to find boundaries, Salt and Padikkal helped RCB reach 91/1 at the halfway mark, with Salt on 45* and Padikkal on 16*.
Dube ended Salt's innings, dismissing him for 46 runs off 30 balls, courtesy of a brilliant catch from Noor Ahmed. RCB was then at 93/2 in 10.4 overs.
Despite the loss of Salt, RCB maintained their momentum, with Padikkal and Patidar hitting sixes against Noor in the 12th over, bringing the score to 100 runs in 11.1 overs.
The 13th over proved costly for Dube, as Patidar and Padikkal scored 23 runs, with Patidar hitting a six over mid-off. Padikkal reached his second consecutive fifty in just 28 balls, and RCB crossed the 150-run mark in 13.5 overs.
Jamie Overton eventually broke the 58-run partnership by bowling Padikkal out while he attempted a lap shot, leaving RCB at 151/3 in 14.1 overs. After 15 overs, RCB stood at 153/3.
RCB continued to dominate as Patidar smashed Khaleel for two sixes and a four, scoring 19 runs in the 16th over. Tim David then took Noor Ahmed to task, hitting three consecutive sixes in the 17th over.
David's onslaught continued with a four to start the next over, and despite being dismissed on a no-ball, he helped RCB reach the 200-run mark in 17.4 overs. He capped off the over with a massive six.
In the penultimate over, David hit Overton for four sixes and a four, achieving his fifty in just 21 balls, with two fours and eight sixes. RCB concluded their innings at 250/3, with David and Patidar showcasing their skills in a 99-run partnership in just 35 balls.
Anshul Kamboj (1/52 in four overs), Overton (1/42 in three overs), and Dube (1/30 in two overs) faced heavy punishment despite taking wickets, while Matt Henry (0/36 in three overs) also struggled.
