RCB Triumphs in IPL 2026 Final

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] - On June 1, RCB's owner Kumar Mangalam Birla celebrated the team's remarkable achievement of winning their second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) title. They secured the championship by defeating the Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets during the final match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

With this victory, RCB joins the elite group of teams, including Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), who have successfully defended their IPL title. After limiting GT to a score of 155/8 in their innings, RCB chased down the target with five wickets in hand and two overs to spare.

In a post-match interview, Kumar Mangalam Birla expressed his pride in the team, stating, "This is a fantastic group; their teamwork is exceptional, which is quite rare. I believe we can aim for a hat-trick next year," he remarked.

Colonel Arvinder Singh, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Gujarat Titans, also shared his thoughts on the match, saying, "It was an exciting game. What matters most is that our team gave their all, even with a lower score. We are incredibly proud of their effort," he commented on Monday.

In the match itself, GT batted first and managed to score only 155 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Washington Sundar was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 50 runs off 37 balls, while Nishant Sindhu contributed 20 runs off 18 balls. RCB's bowlers, including Rasikh Dar Salam (3/27), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/29), and Josh Hazlewood (2/37), consistently took wickets.

RCB began their innings strongly, with a partnership of 62 runs between Venkatesh Iyer (32 runs off 16 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes) and Virat Kohli. Although GT fought back, reducing RCB to 132/5 at one stage, Virat Kohli's impressive innings of 75 runs off 42 balls, featuring nine fours and three sixes, led RCB to victory with two overs remaining.
