Post-Match Insights from RCB's Skipper

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] - April 30: Following a four-wicket loss to the Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar acknowledged the team's batting struggles but commended the bowlers for their efforts in tough conditions.

During the post-match presentation, Patidar admitted that RCB's total was insufficient, yet he praised the bowlers for maintaining competitiveness throughout the match.

"The score we set was not adequate for this pitch, but the way our bowlers performed and kept the game alive was encouraging," Patidar remarked.

He noted the pitch's favorable conditions for fast bowlers and recognized Shubman Gill's impactful innings as a turning point in the match.

"The grass cover on the pitch aided the fast bowlers. Shubman's performance was exceptional and put us under significant pressure," he added.

Patidar pointed out that RCB's downfall during the middle overs was a crucial element in their defeat. "We lost too many wickets in that phase, which put us at a disadvantage," he explained.

He also highlighted the impressive early spell by veteran bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, stating, "His experience showed, and he bowled brilliantly in the first half."

The RCB captain emphasized the need to maintain focus on the tournament's broader objectives. "There's a long way to go, and we will approach each game individually. We're not fixated on the standings; our goal is to play quality cricket," he stated.

In their IPL 2026 encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, GT triumphed over the defending champions with a four-wicket victory, showcasing a well-rounded performance with both bat and ball.

RCB, after a promising start led by Virat Kohli, faced a significant collapse, ultimately being bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs. Arshad Khan (3/22), Rashid Khan (2/19), and Jason Holder (2/29) were instrumental in dismantling the RCB batting lineup.

In response, GT launched a fierce attack with Shubman Gill (43 off 18 balls) and Jos Buttler (39 off 19 balls) setting the tone. Despite losing wickets in the middle overs, Rahul Tewatia (27) and Rashid Khan ensured the Titans crossed the finish line, securing a disciplined victory.
