Rajasthan Royals Triumph Over Mumbai Indians
In a thrilling encounter in Guwahati, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) showcased their dominance by defeating the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 27 runs in a rain-affected match, marking their third consecutive victory in the IPL 2026 season.
Currently leading the points table, RR has achieved a perfect record under the leadership of Riyan Parag. Meanwhile, MI, after a promising start against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has struggled, suffering defeats against both Delhi Capitals (DC) and RR, placing them seventh in the standings.
Batting first, RR posted a formidable total of 150 runs for 3 wickets in just 11 overs, thanks to explosive performances from Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored an impressive 77 runs off 32 balls, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who contributed 39 runs off 14 balls. The MI bowlers faced a tough challenge throughout the innings.
In response, MI's chase faltered early as they lost key wickets, with Nandre Burger (2/21), Sandeep Sharma (2/25), and Ravi Bishnoi (2/26) leading the RR bowling attack effectively.
MI's innings began poorly, losing Ryan Rickelton (8) to Jofra Archer, followed by Suryakumar Yadav (6) to Burger, and Rohit Sharma for just five runs, leaving MI at a dismal 22 for 3 within 4.3 overs.
Although skipper Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma attempted to stabilize the innings, they were dismissed for 9 and 14 runs respectively, leaving MI struggling at 46 for 5 after five overs.
Naman Dhir provided some resistance with a six and a four, but MI continued to lose wickets, ultimately finishing their innings at 123 for 9, with Deepak Chahar (6*) and Jasprit Bumrah (5*) remaining not out.
Earlier, RR's innings was characterized by aggressive batting, with Jaiswal and Suryavanshi setting the tone from the start. Jaiswal's explosive knock included 10 boundaries and four sixes, while Suryavanshi made a significant impact in his brief innings.
Despite MI's efforts to contain the scoring, RR's openers dominated the early overs, racing to 58 runs without loss in just three overs. The introduction of Hardik Pandya brought a brief respite, but RR maintained their momentum, reaching 150 runs by the end of their innings.
In summary, RR's strong performance with both bat and ball secured them a convincing victory, further solidifying their position at the top of the IPL standings.
