Rajasthan Royals Secure Fourth Consecutive Win Against RCB in IPL 2026
Rajasthan Royals Triumph Over Royal Challengers Bengaluru
In a thrilling IPL 2026 encounter held in Guwahati, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) showcased their dominance with a six-wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 11. This win marked RR's fourth straight triumph, while RCB faced their first defeat of the season.
The foundation of RR's success was laid by the explosive partnership between young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel, who dismantled the RCB bowling lineup during the Powerplay, propelling their team to a remarkable 97/1 in just six overs.
Chasing a target of 202 runs, RR started aggressively. Although Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed early for 13 runs, Sooryavanshi, at just 15 years old, took charge. He reached his half-century in a mere 15 balls and finished with an impressive 78 runs off 26 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes.
The pivotal moment came from the partnership between Sooryavanshi and Jurel, who added 108 runs in just 37 balls. Jurel played a crucial role, scoring an unbeaten 81 off 43 balls, featuring 8 fours and 3 sixes.
The match took a turn when Krunal Pandya claimed two wickets in the 9th over, dismissing Sooryavanshi and Shimron Hetmyer (0) in consecutive deliveries. RCB sensed an opportunity when Josh Hazlewood removed skipper Riyan Parag for just 3 runs.
Nevertheless, Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja (24* off 25) steadied the ship, forming a 68-run partnership that led RR to victory in 18 overs with six wickets in hand.
Earlier, RCB managed to recover from a shaky start to post a competitive total of 201/8 in their 20 overs. Captain Rajat Patidar's half-century (63 runs off 40 balls) and a late surge from Impact Player Venkatesh Iyer (29* runs off 15 balls) helped set a challenging target.
Winning the toss, Rajasthan opted to bowl first, a decision that paid off immediately as Jofra Archer dismissed Phil Salt for a golden duck on the first ball of the match.
Archer continued to apply pressure, taking another wicket in the 3rd over by removing Devdutt Padikkal (14 off 7). Although Virat Kohli started strong with 32 runs off 16 balls, he was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi in the 5th over. RCB found themselves struggling at 62/4 within seven overs after losing Krunal Pandya shortly after.
Patidar took charge, reaching his half-century in 35 balls and then accelerating the scoring. The turning point came in the 17th over when he hit two consecutive sixes off Bishnoi, finishing with a vital 63 runs that revitalized RCB's innings before he was caught in the 18th over.
Venkatesh Iyer, brought in as an impact substitute, played a key role in pushing the score past 200, scoring 29 runs off 15 balls, while Romario Shepherd contributed 22 runs. Despite a strong start, Rajasthan's bowlers struggled to contain runs in the death overs, with Archer (2/33 in 3 overs), Bishnoi (2/32 in 4 overs), and Brijesh Sharma (2/37 in 4 overs) being the standout bowlers.
