Rajasthan Royals' Young Stars on the Brink of IPL History

In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the opening partnership of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi from the Rajasthan Royals (RR) is close to setting a record for the quickest 500 partnership runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) history based on balls faced.


As they prepare to face the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Jaiswal and Suryavanshi aim to maintain their impressive form. Their opponents, the Titans, boast a formidable opening pair as well, featuring Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan.


Currently, Jaiswal and Suryavanshi have accumulated 497 runs off 246 balls. The record for the fastest 500 partnership runs is held by Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, who achieved this milestone in just 309 balls while playing for Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils).


In their last match against the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the duo formed a rapid 75-run partnership while chasing a target of 128 runs, with Suryavanshi scoring a remarkable 52 off just 17 balls and Jaiswal remaining not out at 38.


Throughout his IPL career, Jaiswal has amassed 2,204 runs in 68 matches and 67 innings, boasting an average of 34.98 and a strike rate of 151.68, including two centuries and 15 fifties. Suryavanshi, who made history last year as the youngest IPL player at just 14 years old, scored 252 runs in seven innings, including a century, making him the youngest T20 centurion and the fastest IPL centurion among Indian players. In his eight innings, he has scored 304 runs at an average of 38.00 and a strike rate of 218.70, featuring one century and two fifties, with a top score of 101.
