Rajasthan Royals Secure Win with Stellar Opening Partnership

In Guwahati, Assam, on April 8, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag commended the team's opening batsmen, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, calling them "the best in the game" following their impressive 27-run victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2026 match.

The match was shortened to 11 overs per side due to rain, but Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi propelled the Royals to a solid first-innings score of 150/3. Jaiswal shone with an unbeaten 77 runs off 32 balls, featuring 10 fours and four sixes, while Sooryavanshi contributed a brisk 39 runs from just 14 balls.

Parag expressed his admiration for the opening pair, emphasizing their skill, maturity, and consistency. He highlighted Sooryavanshi's versatility and Jaiswal's experience, stating, "They are number one. Vaibhav is exceptional. It’s not just about aggressive hitting. Jaiswal has been performing at this level for several years. Their combination of skill and maturity makes them the best around."

Reflecting on the match, Parag shared his satisfaction with the team's performance, noting the strength of their young core and praising the pace and precision of bowlers like Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger. He remarked, "It feels fantastic. I’ve always believed in this team’s potential due to our strong and youthful lineup. We hope to maintain this level of performance. Jofra encourages us to bowl as fast as possible, and having bowlers like him and Burger, who can consistently bowl over 140-145 km/h with control, is remarkable," he added.

RR's bowling attack, featuring Nandre Burger (2/21), Sandeep Sharma (2/25), Jofra Archer (1/17 in 2 overs), and Ravi Bishnoi (2/26), effectively contained MI's powerful batting lineup, limiting them to 123/9 in the rain-shortened match, thus securing a 27-run victory.
