Quinton de Kock Achieves Milestone in IPL 2026

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 16: Quinton de Kock, the opener for Mumbai Indians (MI), has etched his name in the record books by becoming the first designated wicketkeeper in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to score three centuries. He reached this remarkable feat during a match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL 2026 season.

De Kock joins an elite group of players who have scored centuries for three different franchises in the IPL, a list that includes KL Rahul and Sanju Samson, showcasing his remarkable consistency across various teams and seasons.

KL Rahul has achieved centuries for PBKS, LSG, and DC, while Sanju Samson has done so for DD, RR, and CSK. Quinton de Kock has now recorded centuries for DD, LSG, and MI.

In the realm of T20 cricket, Chris Gayle holds the record for the most centuries with 22, followed by Babar Azam with 11 and David Warner with 10. Quinton de Kock, along with Virat Kohli, Rilee Rossouw, and Sahibzada Farhan, is tied with nine centuries each.

Looking at the highest individual scores for Mumbai Indians in IPL history, Sanath Jayasuriya leads with an impressive 114* against CSK at Wankhede in 2008. Quinton de Kock's 112* against Punjab Kings in 2026 ranks second, followed by Rohit Sharma's 109 against KKR in 2012 and his 105 against CSK in 2024.

In the match itself, Punjab Kings maintained their strong performance in IPL 2026, securing a convincing seven-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

This win propelled PBKS to the top of the standings with four victories and one no-result, surpassing the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Meanwhile, MI fell to ninth place, managing only one win from five matches.

Batting first, MI set a target of 195/6, bolstered by Quinton de Kock's outstanding 112* off 60 balls and a vital 122-run partnership with Naman Dhir, who contributed a brisk 50. Arshdeep Singh was the standout bowler for PBKS, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs.

In response, PBKS successfully chased down the target in just 16.3 overs, finishing at 198/3. Prabhsimran Singh was the star of the chase with an unbeaten 80 off 39 balls, while captain Shreyas Iyer added a solid 66 off 35 balls. The two formed a crucial partnership after an early wobble. For MI, Allah Ghazanfar took 2 wickets for 32 runs, but the bowling attack struggled to contain PBKS's dominance.
