Historic Achievement in IPL

In a remarkable display of talent, Punjab Kings (PBKS) opening batsmen Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya have made history by becoming the first uncapped duo to surpass 1000 partnership runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This milestone was reached during their match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on May 14, 2026.

The pair set the tone for the innings by contributing 50 runs for the first wicket before Arya was dismissed by Deepak Chahar for 22 runs in the last over of the powerplay.

With his score of 22, Priyansh Arya has now become the second uncapped Indian player to achieve over 350 runs in each of his first two IPL seasons, following his impressive tally of 475 runs in 2025 and 357* in 2026. He joins Ambati Rayudu, who recorded 356 runs in 2010 and 395 in 2011.

Prabhsimran Singh also shone brightly, reaching his second half-century of the season against MI in the 11th over, hitting a spectacular six to mark the occasion. He finished with a dazzling 57 runs off just 32 balls, including six fours and four sixes, before being dismissed by Shardul Thakur in the subsequent over.

With a total of 549 runs in 2025 and 438* in 2026, Prabhsimran becomes the third uncapped Indian player to score over 400 runs in multiple IPL seasons, following in the footsteps of Suryakumar Yadav (2018, 2019, & 2020) and Abhishek Sharma (2022 & 2024).

Thanks to a solid fifty from Prabhsimran Singh and crucial contributions from the lower order, PBKS managed to set a competitive total of 200/8.
