PCB Chairman Invited to ICC Meetings and IPL 2026 Final in Ahmedabad
PCB Chairman Receives Invitation for Key Cricket Events
New Delhi [India] - Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the country's interior minister, has been invited to participate in the forthcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meeting and the IPL 2026 final, both set to occur in Ahmedabad later this month, as reported by a local media outlet.
The ICC is planning a series of discussions, including the Chief Executives Committee (CEC) and Board meetings, aimed at reviewing the future framework and direction of the World Test Championship (WTC).
According to the report, the CEC meeting will take place virtually on May 21, while the in-person Board meeting is scheduled for May 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad.
The IPL 2026 final is also slated to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31.
However, the strained relations between the governments of Pakistan and India, along with their respective cricket boards, raise uncertainties regarding Naqvi's attendance.
As per the report, the PCB chairman has passed the invitation to Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who will make the final decision on whether to attend the meetings and the IPL final in India.
It is important to note that these meetings, part of the ICC's quarterly agenda, were initially planned for March-April in Doha but were postponed due to regional tensions and conflicts.
The original schedule for the meetings was from March 25 to 27, which included ICC Board directors, Chief Executives, Committee members, and senior leadership from the governing body of world cricket.
