Pat Cummins Confirms Absence from Upcoming IPL Matches

Sydney, Australia - April 15: Pat Cummins, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), has announced that he will not participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scheduled for April 18.


The experienced Australian cricketer has also ruled himself out for the match against the Delhi Capitals on April 21. This information was shared by Cummins in response to a fan's inquiry on his Instagram account.


Cummins mentioned that he is aiming to return for the match against the Rajasthan Royals on April 25. He confirmed that he will be flying back to join his team on April 17, stating, "Fly back Friday. Aiming for 25th vs RR," in his Instagram reply.

Currently, Cummins is recovering from a back injury and has left the IPL 2026 camp to return to Australia for a final assessment of his condition, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.


Since July of the previous year, Cummins has had limited participation, playing only one Ashes Test in Adelaide. He has indicated that he has resumed bowling in practice and is gradually increasing his workload as part of a rehabilitation strategy.


In Cummins' absence, Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan will lead SRH for the remainder of the 2026 season.


As for the team's performance, SRH has managed to secure two victories out of five matches in the IPL 2026 season, currently sitting with four points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +0.576.
