Pat Cummins Reflects on SRH's Struggles Against Gujarat Titans in IPL Clash
Match Overview
In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on May 12, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins acknowledged the challenging batting conditions and praised the Gujarat Titans for their impressive bowling display during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match.
Despite suffering an 82-run defeat, Cummins expressed confidence in his batting lineup, emphasizing their strong performances throughout the season. He noted that their five to six victories have provided them with some leeway in the tournament.
“It appeared to be a tough wicket. The bowling effort from Gujarat was commendable. Our batting has been exceptional, with over 400 runs scored. Winning five or six matches has given us some breathing space,” Cummins stated following the game.
SRH faced a significant batting collapse, leading to a decisive 82-run loss against GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
After successfully limiting the Gujarat Titans to 168/5 through disciplined bowling, SRH struggled in their chase, getting bowled out for a mere 86 runs in 14.5 overs, as the Titans' pace attack dismantled their batting order with precision.
With this victory, Gujarat has ascended to the top of the points table with 16 points, while SRH holds the third position with 14 points.
SRH's total of 86 is now the second-lowest all-out score against GT, following LSG's 82 in Pune in 2022.
The 82-run win also marks the Titans' largest victory margin in IPL history, surpassing their previous 77-run win against the Rajasthan Royals earlier this season.
This match also recorded SRH's lowest all-out total in IPL history, marking the first instance since 2024 that they failed to chase down a target below 200 runs in the tournament.
